Avoid using neem products on small children (4 and under.) - neem oil is very potent stuff and there have been reports of toxicity in children, though rare. A byproduct crust is created which needs to be stirred so it doesn’t seal the top of the solution, in turn holding the reaction and gases in. Do it too quickly and everything is held in by the crust which creates a volcanic effect and you don’t want caustic lye spraying everywhere. Mix your Lye and water together carefully whilst wearing your mask to prevent inhallation of the fumes. Stir carefully nd add to the melted oils at around 50 degrees celcius. We recommend easy recipes like the Kokum Butter Soap, Menthol Crystal Soap, and Pink Salt and Gold Soapto start.
Adding various things then allowing to harden again. I haven’t tried this recipe without the wax, so I’m just not sure. I’ve never used fresh milk in this base – my thought is that the longer cooking time may scorch the milk. Because crockpot temperatures vary widely, your soap may reach this stage sooner, or later than 45 minutes. These photos just show how my crockpot runs. I used sweet almond oil instead of olive oil in this recipe.
(From Scratch) How to Make Melt & Pour Soap Base
Cook until the soap paste has completely melted into the glycerin. This depends on your recipe and crock pot temperature and might take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour or longer. At this point, your soap has been cooking for around 45 minutes. You might notice it turning more translucent and Vaseline-like because it’s gelling, though it will be harder to see with zinc oxide added to the batch.
It may take a couple minutes of stirring to get everything well combined. You shouldn't see any oil or color floating on the top when it's mixed. I did right around 5% neem oil in my soap bars g soap base & 23 g neem oil. Tyler did the full 10% g soap base and 45 g neem oil. You can add up to 10% neem oil to the soap base, but the smell will be VERY intense and the soap will not lather as much as it would normally. The ready soap base has practically no smell, so essential oils or perfumed water are added to the soap for scent.

Never add the lye solution if the base oils are above 180°F (82°C). If the coconut oil has completely melted, add the olive oil. Below, you’ll find instructions for hot process soap. This method is beginner-friendly and has a fast turnaround. It makes 30 ounces, or 7 to 10 bars, of custom bar soap.
When melted, take the jar out of the water and place it on a cloth. Add a few drops of food coloring if desired. Next, add the essential or fragrance oil a few drops at a time. A 4-ounce bar should have about 10 drops of scent.

This is when the oils and lye solution have thickened and look like pudding. Once the soap base has completely melted, it’s time to add the color. One 2lb tray of the Stephenson’s High Clarity Vanilla Stable melt and pour soap base.
This is why I prefer the crockpot to the stove for heating. Do a bit at first, then do more in a little while. If you mash too much at once, you may get a lot of suds.

It is sweating a lot and I since have put a fan on it but its still sweating. I used 15 oz glicerin and live in Southern CA. I used the “Now Solutions” Vegetable Glycerin 100% pure versatile skin care. So can this soap be remelted and used for a child craft event ?
Always use gloves and safety goggles when handling lye. (Learn all aboutlye in soap making.) Have vinegar on hand in case lye spills or splashes occur. It’s used to make a lye solution, which is combined with oil. The water helps the oil and lye complete the saponification process. By the time the soap hardens, most of the water will have evaporated. Keep in mind, too, that DIY soap tends to have a lighter scent than traditional, store-bought soap.

I have a few molds in mind, though I noticed in another comment you mentioned how tricky it can be to work with as it is pretty thick. What is your preferred method of melting? I had been using a double-boiler with the commercial bases I was using before, but I kinda wonder if higher heat might be necessary. Turn your crockpot or slow cooker on high. Add the wax and butters, making sure the butters are broken up in small pieces first, for ease of melting.
Try to use high quality raw materials - it'll make the soap so much nicer! I prefer goat's milk soap bases because of how moisturizing they are. In this instructable, I'll walk you through how I made a couple batches of neem soap.
